Pantone, the provider of professional colour standards for the design industry, has announced Radiant Orchid as the colour of the year for 2014. “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®

Could we see this colour filter through into weddings in 2014?

Take the 2013 trend of rainbow cakes and use the Radiant Orchid colour range to update this still popular trend to 2014.

Use of macaroons, coloured drinks and funky coloured shoes are still a hot trend for 2014. There are so many beautiful flowers you can use, including the stunning orchid itself. Further flowers matching this 2014 colour trend are hydrangeas, freesias, anemone, tulips, sweet peas, lilac and. Many more. Even if the snow is falling outside, inside can be a cosy igloo for your friends and family. With scented candles, mulled wine and bauble or two you can go as mad as you like.

Here are a few ideas that caught my eye:

Everyone loves chocolate, so what would be better than a hot chocolate bar to warm your guests up.

Autumn Wedding Bouquet

Autumn brings Dahilas with their vibrant colours, Hydrengaes with dusky pinks, purples to reds and coppers towards the end of Autumn and Freesias with their beautiful scent. Red roses and burnt orange Calla Lillies make a great combination.

Autumn is a great season for foliages, poppy seed pods, hypericum berries and ivy all play a part in creating the perfect centre pieces or bouquets.

Autumn Wedding Centre Pieces and Ideas

This season is great for keeping the budget low as you can use natures natural colours. The use of leaves, conkers and pumkins are just some of the ideas I have come across so far this Autumn.

Colour schemes are reverting back to classical involving pastel shades of pink, champagne, grey and cream. Wedding theme colours tend to follow fashion and 2012 definitely focus on these colours. This summer brings the use of bold colours used in blocks so I can not wait to see the imaginative wedding designs.

Patterns are also big this year and with the combination of pastel shades you can go bold, especially floral designs keeping your wedding classical. This is popular for table runners adding a touch of class. Floor runners are also getting more popular as you can request them to be custom-made with your names, initials, date of wedding; the choice is endless.

Candelabra’s and chandelier’s create a huge statement especially with the new trend of using them outdoors. Crystal appears to remain the most popular choice and you can hire them for a fraction of the price of purchasing them. I came across ‘Wedding Day Hire’ a wedding hire company based in the Cambridgeshire are: http://www.weddingdayhire.co.uk.

Rustic and vintage themes are also very popular this year. The Royal wedding largely influencing the use of lace both on dresses and wedding themes alike. Faux fur, antique brooches, pearls, vintage crockery are in and cupcakes are out, being replaced by dessert tables with bite size desserts and sweet treats.

The most interesting trend this year I find is making sure you leave your reception in style. I have seen examples of couples leaving through sparkler arch ways, quad bikes, horse, tractor and I could go on.

Are you daring enough to set any new trends this year, let me know!
